Kiwanis Family (K-Family)

 

Kiwanis International

Founded in 1915 in Detroit and with headquarters now in Indianapolis , Kiwanis International is a thriving organization of service- and community-minded individuals who support children and young adults around the world. More than 600,000 Kiwanis-family members in 96 countries make their mark by responding to the needs of their communities and pooling their resources to address worldwide issues. Through these efforts, Kiwanis International truly is "Serving the Children of the World."

Kiwanis International Foundation

The Kiwanis International Foundation was established as a legal entity in 1939. From humble beginnings, the Kiwanis International Foundation has grown to a multimillion dollar Foundation, providing grants to thousands of organizations worldwide aimed at making better the lives of children. Thus, its mission – “to assist Kiwanis International in serving the children of the world” – is the Foundation's priority.

Kiwanis Junior

Popular in Europe, Kiwanis Junior clubs comprise of young adults aged 18-35 who are community-minded and commit several hours of community service to help better the lives of young and underprivileged children in their respective areas. There are Kiwanis Junior clubs in Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Belgium.

Circle K

Circle K is a service club for collegians and has nearly 13,500 members on more than 500 university and college campuses in 17 nations. Circle K was started by the Pullman , Washington Kiwanis Club, and was formally organized as a service organization in 1947. Its members are committed to leadership, service, and fellowship.

Key Club

The oldest Kiwanis sponsored-youth program is Key Club. Seventeen boys in Sacramento , California , made up the first Key Club in 1925, and today the organization is active in 20 nations and includes 4,711 clubs and 234,528 members. More than 2 million youth have enlisted in Key Club since its inception, including many who are now top government and business leaders.

Builders Club

When middle school and junior high students began to show an interest in organizing to serve their schools and communities, the Builders Club program was launched in 1975. With support from Kiwanis clubs, Key Clubs, and Circle K clubs, the Builders Club network has grown to include more than 1,500 clubs and 44,000 members in 13 nations.

K-KIDS

This organization for elementary school-age students began in 1990 when the first club was formed in North Lauderdale , Florida , and formally adopted as a sponsored program by Kiwanis in 1998. Today 16,164 K-Kids in 500 clubs and 11 nations are actively creating opportunities for community service, leadership development, and citizenship education.

Aktion Club

Aktion Club is the newest member of the Sponsored Organizations and Programs of Kiwanis International. Aktion club is a community-service group for adult citizens who live with a disability. Aktion Club members strive to return to their communities the benefits, help, and caring they have received, as well as devlop important skills in the process.

Key Leader

Key Leader is a new leadership experience for today's youth leaders. It focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership development experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership—leadership comes from helping others succeed.
